Record Companies Are Criminals

Sony BMG is now using the same techniques that hackers use to break into your system to copy-protect their CDs. They are getting sued as a result. If you have ever needed more of a reason to boycott these assholes, here it is. They are immoral criminals, IMHO, and you should never buy a CD from them ever again.

I should probably clarify slightly. Sony can claim that when you agree to their license agreement you have given them permission to hack your system. Thus, the charge of “criminal” is a little harsh if taken literally. The fact that they install their software, then hide its existence and then prevent the uninstall of it while none of this is explicitly explained in the license, to me constitutes behavior that is borderline legal if not outright illegal.
