OMG Obama smiled at Chavez!

I think that if Obama is kind and respectful to the leaders of Venezuela, North Korea and Iran it will be a good thing. Diplomacy is an art. The Bush foreign policy doctrine was a joke. Call them names, ignore them, demonize them — WTF did that get us?

Obama is obviously going for a “speak softly and carry a big stick” philosophy. He is not going to budge on the issues that are important to the American people. But he can do that more effectively if he is thought a kind and fair man by the people he is negotiating with.

Do I even have to explain this to you?
