DAO Day #1

I arrived at the observatory today for my week long run. A very nice and knowledgeable fellow got me orientated and trained in on the telescope, dome and camera. This is a sweet, sweet spot. In terms of large, fancy astronomical observatories, this isn’t one. But for someone like me, who is just starting up in “professional” astronomy, it’s amazing. Again, I want to shower the people of Canada with love and affection for letting me come here and use this great facility.

The image above is the dome of the 1.2m telescope I am using. I will eventually put together a photo gallery with many other photos. I am also putting together a few videos which I’ll post over at Slacker Astronomy.

So stay tuned. Much more to come!
